Are You Okay?–to premiere at the historic Rincon Center in downtown San Francisco–is an immersive, site specific dance theater work that asks how we are managing in a world that is personally and collectively unstable.

In a precarious time when our lives, health, jobs, governments and the technologies that connect us are in constant flux, Are You Okay? proposes that embodied and collaborative creativity is not a privileged luxury, but a critical survival technique.

Are You Okay? is the latest immersive work from Joe Goode, whose installations at such sites as the SF Mint, the Lilienthal-Haas House, Haight-Ashbury, and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, have thrilled San Francisco audiences for more than two decades.

Created and directed in collaboration with Melecio Estrella of Bandaloop, and performed by members of the Joe Goode Performance Group, Are You Okay? is not to be missed.

Image Description (AI generated): A poster for Joe Goode Performance Group’s upcoming production titled “Are You Okay?” features a monochrome image with striking yellow accents. In the upper right, a person with curly hair and visible tattoos crouches inside a white box, grasping their head in apparent distress. Below, another dancer is caught mid-motion, upside down with legs extended upward, creating a dynamic and surreal visual. Splashes of bright yellow paint accent the image, emphasizing key text.

When Eyes Speak presents “Saabit Qadam” – Perseverance ft. Farah Yasmeen Shaikh and Noorani Dance Company along with Nikita Shah

Show Dates & Times:

10/11/25, Saturday, 4pm + 7pm

10/12/25, Sunday, 2pm

We present the 5th iteration of When Eyes Speak, San Francisco’s First South Asian Choreography Festival, curated by Preethi Ramaprasad and Shruti Abhishek. When Eyes Speak has been featured as a Critic’s Pick by the San Francisco Chronicle, and has been supported by the American Conservatory Theater, San Francisco Arts Commission, Zellerbach Family Foundation, Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center, Dance Mission Theatre, and Safehouse Arts to name a few. The festival hopes to support artists in endeavors showcasing the ingenuity and vastness of South Asian diasporic movement and art practices.

Saabit Qadam – Perseverance is Farah Yasmeen Shaikh and Noorani Dance Company’s humble way of honoring the artists of Pakistan – highlighting some that have been of great personal nostalgic influence, from childhood to present day. Whether their work was steeped in activism or not, they have persevered throughout decades, to develop, reclaim, and celebrate their artistry, and that of their history and culture – shared with many across various borders that define the South Asian diaspora and beyond. The show also features the artwork of Kalamkari artist and deisgner Nikita Shah.
