Performance Skills for the end of the world
December 20th @ The Joe Goode Annex
10am- 6 pm
Workshop Admission: $125
Join lifelong collaborators Joe Goode and Marit Brook-Kothlow for a daylong workshop of skills practice. Learn to make the kind of dance/theater that is a tonic for a tender world.
Participants will be guided in building material that comes from the personal “felt experience.”
We will use our voices, our smart phones*, and, of course, our bodies, to craft small performances that reflect something about how we feel in this “end of the world” moment.
Workshop will include:
Movement for Humans- exploring the healing pleasure of sensation and simple mobility
Writing from the Body- writing that draws on impulses from the body
Crafting movement material- finessing movement (large and small) that is derived from improvisation
FInding the frame- practicing a “close-up” moment and filming it with our smart phones*
Working in partnership- generating empathy through movement, voice, touch, and collaborative action
Participants should have some background in dance and/or performance.
*If you don’t have a smart phone, not to worry. There will be enough of them in the room to make it work.
