Celebrating 30 years of inspiring movement about the human experience
June 22-24, 2017
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco
Nobody Lives Here Now is a poetic fable that explores the nature of disappearance as part of the fragile human condition. The piece tells the story of a fantastical world where the things that anchor us – home, culture, people – rapidly shift and erode, and the characters find themselves faced with sudden transformation. What happens when things vanish in an instant, when our vitality, place, and identity disappear? Laced with JGPG’s signature humor and song, the work is highlighted by a fervent live classical music score by Thalea String Quartet.
The evening also includes favorites from the JGPG repertoire, with a guest performance by original company member, Liz Burritt.
“Unlike the great and powerful wizard, however, the unassuming Goode is no charlatan, but rather a beguiling spinner of tales of the human condition.” – San Francisco Chronicle
“…a merging between body and musical notes the under tones of comedy are consistently there….you need time to catch the hidden emotions of the performance but, its richness is discovered slowly throughout the piece…” – Andre Clavé, L’Echo Haute-Vienne
